The 2011 CDI-W Frankfurt kicked off today with the warm up round for the Nurnberger Burgpokal Finals, a national show circuit finals for small tour horses. Isabell Werth is competing Flatley in the Finals but more interestingly, she made a public statement by wearing a helmet at an FEI level competition.

Jacqueline Brooks rode the 12-year-old Swedish Warmblood gelding (D-Day-Alitalia,Napoleon 625) to win the CDI-W Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon. Although the pair has only been together since March, they've come a long way since then.

This weekend, competing at his first CDI - W, D-Niro was the top Canadian horse in both the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Freestyle placing third in the freestyle. As well, Gran Gesto, Brooks' 16 year old 2008 Olympic Partner placed immediately behind D-Niro in the Grand Prix and was second and top Canadian horse in the Grand Prix Special.

Last Sunday afternoon, at the Palgrave CDI 3*, when Gran Gesto heard the opening bars to his "Alexander" freestyle, he knew it was time to dance. And dance he did, winning the Grand Prix Freestyle, his third in a row, with a score of 70.96%.
